Earlier this morning, we teamed up with Lambs Terrace Fire Company to conduct Ice Rescue training at the pond off Hider Lane. As the cold weather approaches each year, we review the equipment and techniques that we would use in the event of an emergency. However it's not every year that the weather allows us to get hands on training, so when we are provided with the opportunity to do so, we jump at it. Firefighters were able to work on single and two person rescues utilizing varying methods and equipment.
We would like to remind everyone that no ice should be considered safe, and advise you to not venture out on to it. We've been fortunate here in GT this season, however there have already been several incidents with victims falling through in surrounding towns and counties.
