Shortly before 9pm last night, Tower Ladder 82, Squad 88, Chief 82, and Battalion 82 responded to the Erial section of the Township for a Dwelling. First in units arrived to find a Single Family Dwelling with fire showing from the rear and impinging on a neighboring residence. SD88 arrived and layed a secondary supply line, while TL82 and B82 acted as the RIT (Rapid Intervention Team). Station 82 crews were on location for approximately 90 minutes before being released. All throughout, Engine 82 was staffed in quarters to respond to any additional incidents in the Township.
This was the second reported fire of the day for our crews. Earlier in the morning, a minor incident was quickly handled by Squad 88, Quint 29 (Magnolia), and Quint 7 (Runnemede).

Yesterday morning, members from Chews Landing Fire Department, Glendora Fire Company, Bellmawr Fire Department, Gloucester Township OEM, and Camden County Office of Emergency Management took part in joint Ice Rescue training at the Timber Creek Dog Park. This exercise brought together a number of the responding partners to the actual rescue that occurred at this very location just several weeks ago. This training, which we conduct annually, allowed the companies to review the various equipment, techniques, and responsibilities that can be utilized in the case of such an event. The results of recent events reflect just how important and effective this training is.

Shortly before noon yesterday, Chews Landing Fire Department was dispatched to Lee Ann Dr. for a Dwelling fire. Chief 82 and Assistant Chief 82 arrived to find a 2 story single family dwelling with fire showing from the second floor. Engine 82 arrived right behind him, layed a supply line, and proceeded to make an interior attack with 1 .75in handline. Squad 88 and Mutual Aid departments all arrived in quick succession, jumping into the fight conducting searches, stretching additional hoselines, laddering & ventilating the structure, securing utilities, and standing by as RIT. The bulk of the visible fire was quickly knocked, though more time was needed for it to be fully extinguished. No firefighter or civilian injuries were reported.
Approximately two hours later while the station was still committed to the scene, Chief 82 was advised of a second reported Dwelling fire on Kennedy Dr. in Glen Oaks. Squad 88 was able to free up to respond with our Mutual Aid partners to handle the second call. That fire was minor in nature, and crews were able to clear up after about an hour, which was about the same time the rest of the station was clearing the first call. Both fires are under investigation by local authorities.
Tremendous thanks to all of our Mutual Aid departments for their assistance and professionalism.
