Housing Ceremony for Tower Ladder 82

May 17, 2024
  • Back To News Stories

On Saturday May 11, 2024 the Chews Landing Fire Department held a Housing and Dedication Ceremony for Tower Ladder 82. Members of the public, local government, and surrounding departments all gathered with us on this beautiful morning to help us celebrate this wonderful new piece of apparatus.

Following a brief introduction by Fire District #2 Commissioner Ray Evans, Deacon Robert Foley offered an opening prayer for the event. Commissioner Evans then offered a brief history on the longstanding tradition of the “pushing in” of Fire apparatus and housing ceremonies. He then went on to give some background on the process the Truck Committee (Chief Mike Millisky, Truck Company Capt. Jeff Gant, Capt./District Mechanic Nick Procopio, Commissioner George Genzel, and Commissioner Ray Evans) went through for us to take delivery of this apparatus, and finally thanks to everyone that made it all possible. Remarks were then made by Gloucester Township Mayor David Mayer and Councilwoman Helen Albright Troxell.

It was then time for Deacon Foley to bless the Tower, after which members of the department ceremoniously pushed Tower Ladder 82 into the apparatus bay. We then enjoyed a delicious meal provided to us by MISSION BBQ and dessert by ShopRite of Chews Landing.
Thank you to everyone who attended for making this a great and enjoyable day.
