Your presence, whether representing your department, supporting the procession, or standing with the family, was a dignified tribute to Chief Reichert’s decades of dedicated service. The professionalism, respect, and unity shown by our neighboring departments and community members exemplify the very best of our community.

The viewing for Past Chief Joseph Reichert Jr. will be held on Wednesday, July 15, 2026, from 9:00 AM to 11:30 AM at Earle Funeral Home, 22 West Church Street, Blackwood, NJ.
Departments attending are asked to travel on the Black Horse Pike to Central Avenue (the street of the Blackwood Fire Company), follow Central Avenue to Railroad Avenue, turn right, and park along the side of the street facing W. Church Street. The Blackwood Fire Company parking lot will also be available if additional parking is needed.
Following the service, a funeral procession will pass Chief Reichert’s home, the Chews Landing Fire House, and proceed to the cemetery at Chews United Methodist Church, 319 N. Black Horse Pike, Glendora, NJ, where Chief Reichert will be laid to rest.
Civilian vehicles will turn left onto Chestnut Street to access the church parking lot, with overflow parking also located on Chestnut Street. Fire apparatus and support vehicles will continue on Station Avenue, passing Chestnut Street, and turn left onto Main Street to park.
The Chews Landing Fire Department honors Past Chief Reichert’s dedicated service and invites the community and fellow departments to join us in paying final respects.
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Past Chief Reichert.
Past Chief Reichert joined the department in 1958 and dedicated a lifetime of service spanning nearly seven decades. He served as Chief from 1978 to 2007, leading with unwavering commitment, integrity, and compassion. Following his tenure as Chief, he continued to serve as Commissioner from 2013 until the time of his passing, demonstrating that his dedication to this department never wavered.
