On Monday evening, 8/29/16, department members reviewed the protocols for calling a Mayday during an incident. Activities included giving a LUNAR report in various positions and demonstrating the activation of the P.A.S.S. device. In addition, personnel went over manipulating the SCBA in a low profile maneuver, as well as, showing competency in using the Buddy Breathing System and R.I.T. pak.
At 22:32 Hrs. on Sunday March 13, Engine 82 was dispatched to the intersection of the Black Horse Pike and Chews Landing Road for wires burning. Upon arrival, crews found a main power line down and actively burning in the area of Black Horse Pike and Olympus Ave. The roadway was then closed while waiting for PSE&G to arrive and secure the downed wire. Once power was secured, crews then cooled down the sidewalk area that had burned.
On Friday, 3/11/16 @ 18:42 Hrs., the Chews Landing FD - Sta. 82 was dispatched to a reported dwelling fire with possible entrapment in the area of W. Maple Avenue in Lindenwold. On arrival, members of the department were placed into service on a back-up interior attack line, in addition to ventilation operations of the roof. No injuries reported.
On Monday, 2/29 @ 23:00 Hrs., the Glendora FD - Sta. 81, Chews Landing FD - Sta. 82, Blackwood FD - Sta. 84, Runnemede FD - Sta. 75, Blenheim FD - Sta. 83, and Magnolia FD - Sta. 29, were dispatched to an "All Hands" dwelling fire at 7th & Central Ave. in Glendora. On arrival, companies found heavy fire conditions and placed lines in service. The fire was placed "Under Control" a short time later and turned over to local for the investigation.
On Tuesday 2/23/16 @ 04:23 Hrs., the Chews Landing FD - Sta. 82 along with the Magnolia FD - Sta. 29, Glendora FD - Sta. 81 and Lawnside FD - Sta. 27-2, responded to a reported dwelling with heavy fire conditions. Crews made a quick knockdown and the fire was placed Under Control a short time later. The incident is currently under investigation by the Camden County Fire Marshal and Local Fire Marshal.
