On July 13th, members of the Chews Landing Fire Department traveled to the Valleybrook Sports Complex to wet down the kids who participated in the soccer camp. Given the recent hot weather, we’re pretty sure this was the highlight of their week!
On July 13th, members of the Chews Landing Fire Department traveled to the Deptford Fire Department for cooperative training on winching and rigging operations. Thanks to Cleve Riehl of Riehl’s Towing for imparting some of his considerable knowledge on the subject.
On the morning of July 12th, the Chews Landing Fire Department was dispatched to Chews Landing Road near the Lindenwold border for a downed tree. Upon arrival, E822 encountered a large tree completely blocking the road, with a pole and wires also down. After determining there was no immediate fire hazard, the scene was turned over to the Gloucester Township Police Department and Atlantic City Electric. The roadway was reopened later that afternoon.
On July 7th, students from the Mother Goose Learning Center visited the Chews Landing Fire Department. After learning Fire Safety tips from Fire Marshal Young, the students were given a tour of the firehouse, and then used a hose line to extinguish a simulated structure fire. A good time was had by all!
