This morning Rescue 82 was dispatched along with Squad 85 to Route 42 north at milepost 8.6 for a motor vehicle crash. While responding, we found the ramp from the Black Horse Pike to Route 42 south blocked by BLS units and a tractor trailer, with the EMS personnel running towards and looking under the tractor trailer. Fearing the worst, firefighters approached the scene and observed a small dog under the cab portion of the truck. The dog appeared uninjured, but was snarling and snapping like a Tasmanian ball of fur. As showed in the attached photos, the dog turned into putty in the arms of Firefighter Rick The Dog Whisperer Knight. The dog was transported to the firehouse, where he was picked up by the Gloucester Township Police. If anyone knows the owner of the dog, or is interested in adopting him, please contact the Gloucester Township Police non-emergency number at 856-228-4500. The crash on Route 42 was minor and was handled by Squad 85.
